Wee-North Project Ghana
What We Do
At the WEE-North Network, we are proud to support and empower our WEE-Groups, which range in size from 15 to 200 tradeswomen, depending on their location. Each WEE-Group operates under a standardized Performance Management System, excelling in five core functions. At the heart of every group is peer support, which enables our members to offer industrial trade services and sell products under our WEE-Make initiative.
Our young women are actively engaged in a wide range of trades, including:
- Air Conditioner Servicing
- Artificial Grass Installation
- Block Laying
- Crown Molding
- Electrical Installation (Domestic and Commercial)
- Painting
- Plastering
- Plumbing
- Small Engine Repair
- Solar Installation and Maintenance
- Tiling
- Vinyl Flooring
- Welding
- Woodwork
With the support of their groups, many of our tradeswomen have established successful enterprises, providing valuable services to their communities.
To maintain cohesiveness and foster growth, our WEE-Groups engage in collective saving schemes, anticipate opportunities for advanced training, and promote gender equality and the trades in junior high and primary schools. They also give back to their communities through volunteer building and repair work.
At the district level, our WEE-Groups are recognized by their District Assemblies and serve their communities in various ways. They undertake conventional works, initiate projects related to irrigation and sanitation, respond to disasters, lead discussions on border and security issues, and train others in digitization and emerging technologies.
Guiding and championing these groups are 25 experienced women Trades Mentors, who provide mentorship and support as the groups strive for greater performance and impact.
Through our collective efforts, we are transforming the lives of our members, reshaping industries, and strengthening communities across Northern Ghana.
